Google Keep #3

Finding notes is easy when you only have one or two, but we've seen many monitors with dozens of sticky notes placed around it. So while making notes is a great idea, finding them (especially on a mobile device) can be a little difficult.

Google Keep has this covered! You can colour code your notes. This means that instead of just having pretty notes you can make orange apply to phone messages, green to information you need to remember, blue to work you need to complete, yellow to mission ideas, etc. You can also use the search feature and select the type of note it was:

Google Keep really makes it easy to keep notes organised and haver them appear at your finger tips when you need them.

Google Keep

Do you have lots of little bits of paper or post-it notes in your pockets or on your computer? They're useful reminders of tasks you need to do, mileage you need to record, etc. Chances are they look a little like this:

Did you know that you can store them digitally and have them with you on any computer device you're using? By using Google Keep with your @salvaitonarmy.org.nz account you can make these little notes on your phone, or at your desktop computer. In fact at pretty much any computer or device you have. So rather than have to interpret your handwriting or keep a note hidden they're secured to your @salvationarmy.org.nz logon and look like this:

More than that, you can actually share a note with someone else, so that surprise party for Kirsten is easily shared between people without a note being lost or seen by someone who can't keep a surprise!

Google Keep is a great electronic version of post it notes. More than just simple text and to do lists you can also record voice memo's and even take photos so you get the things done you need to.

MyScript Stylus

MyScript Stylus

Do you like handwriting and wish you could do it on your phone (or maybe tablet)? If so then MyScript Stylus is the app for you!

Once installed it becomes another keyboard for you to use when entering text (similar to Google Swipe that we posted about here). All you do is handwrite using your finger or a stylus and whatever app you're using (email, text, calendar, etc) will get beautifully typed text.

Passwords #3

Are you using a weak password? You know, your kids / grand kids names with a number of it? Then when you HAVE to change your password (because you won't change it if you don't have to) you just increase the number by 1?

Not such a smart idea, but you're not alone. Check out these figures:

It isn't that hard to come up with a secure password. Simply adding a CAPITAL letter (or 2), putting in a digit (or 2), or some of those hieroglyphic characters that are on your keyboard but only used to block out things (e.g. #@%&!!).

Another tip is to use a bible reference. These are pretty secure and may help guide your thinking. Psalm 25 is a pretty good password. Psalm 25:12 is even better!
