Talk to Me!

You probably already know you can talk to your phone. You may think this is a little bit of a gimmick, but it is a powerful feature that can the extremely helpful in certain situations.  The place I use it most often is in the car. There is a cradle that holds my phone, and I tell my phone to send someone a message, or call someone. I even have been known to dictate emails.

At this stage I would imagine that this is still illegal in New Zealand. ??? I understand the government are looking at making use of phone in car legal, but law has not been changed yet.

That is a great question! The law doesn't prohibit using a mobile phone, just holding it. So if it is in a cradle and can be used with minimal touch it is OK. We understand this means tapping the Google search microphone is alright much like skipping tracks if you're using it for music or podcast playback.

The key component is that you CAN'T have the device in your hand and you can't be tapping away on it. This is where using your voice becomes very powerful. I regularly tell my phone to, call home or text I'm running 10 minutes late to Peter very successfully.
